Parson – Ian Gordon Parson of Brooks, Alberta, beloved husband of Barbara Parson, passed away suddenly, but peacefully in Brooks on Monday, April 14th, 2025, at the age of 68 years young. Ian was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 30th, 1956 to Gordon and Eleanor Parson. His teenage rebellion led him to The Pas, Manitoba, where he met the love of his life, at the tender age of 16 years old. Ian’s charm and determination convinced that woman, Barbara Zetterstrom, to marry him and move to Brooks to build a life together. He chased the dream of gaining lucrative employment on the oil rigs. Ian worked hard and took great pride in working the rigs for majority of his life, working at companies such as Round-Up, Rockwell, Pronghorn, Big Steam and finally his own company, Flat Line Consulting, to name a few. He will be remembered for his questionable fashion choices, cocky attitude, his Lobster feasts, his love of swimming, gardening, reading, playing ball, rock n’ roll, travelling, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and his many beloved dogs. Ian was predeceased by his mother Mavis, father Gordon, stepmother Anne and his sister Louise. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara; children, Schuyler, Meghan and Kallie; his one and only grandson Toryen (aka: Little Ian); twin brother, Eric (Diane) brother Jimmy (Lynn); sisters, Sharon (Brian) and Lyn (Mike) and, of course, his loyal dog, Messi. He will not be forgotten and we will cherish his memory forever. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In memory of Ian, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Brooks Animal Protection Society, Box 86, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B2.
