Parker – Stanley Brook Parker was born in Brooks, Alberta on November 4th, 1947 to Jean and Stanley Parker.  He was the oldest of 6 children.  He attended Rosemary School, until he moved to Utah where he attended Brigham Young High School.  Brook was a gifted drummer and in the spring of his senior year of high school he joined a band of 5 Brigham Young University students called The Rapid Transit.  They billed themselves as a “Psychedelic Rock Band” and even recorded a few records in San Francisco, followed by a tour of the Midwest and western United States.  Brook returned to Brooks and began working at Nelson’s Men’s Wear.  His infectious laugh and winning personality made him a natural salesman.  However, his love for music and entertaining continued and on weekends he could be found playing with other musicians including Jim Peake, Ted Storch and Allen Eastman at weddings, rodeos and other celebrations all over southern Alberta.  Brook later worked for Pan Canadian and did private contract gas well servicing in the East Coulee/Dorothy area.  He then went to work for McKnight Ranches at Duchess and the grasslands of Inner Mongolia.  Brook loved to reminisce about his many interesting and often hilarious adventures in China.  After returning to Canada, Brook spent time farming in Saskatchewan before retiring to the infamous 15 Blazier Park Street, where he shared his home and table with many young Hutterite men, who were working away from their colonies.  Throughout his life and travels he formed many close friendships with people of all ages.  Brook was known for bringing laughter and humor wherever he went.  He loved to dance, he loved music and he loved to laugh.  He welcomed everyone to his home and there were many celebrations with many toasts.  Brook’s positive energy brought happiness to many people throughout his life and Brook always left you feeling a little bit better than when he found you.  A Celebration of Life for Brook Parker will be held Saturday, May 27th at 2:00 PM at the Duchess Community Hall, Duchess AB.
