Noronha – Fernando Noronha passed away in Calgary on Wednesday Feb. 1st, 2023, after a lengthy hard-fought battle with a rare form of leukemia. He was born on November 10th, 1967 in Brooks to August and Maria Noronha. Fernando was raised on a cattle farm near Rosemary, with his three sisters. He was a hard worker from a very young age helping his Dad with the cattle and various farm chores, even renting land while he was still in school. Fernando started his own hay farm called Quality Hay Farm, and after graduation he bought a semi and b-trains and hauled hay to various farms/ranches in Alberta and Montana. He was very mechanically inclined and always fixed all his own vehicles, machinery, and even his big trucks. Fernando passed this natural ability on to both of his kids. In 1992, he met the love of his life, Charlotte and they were married July 29th, 1995. Fernando was blessed with two children, Corey (Jessica) and Vicki, and two beautiful grandchildren, Summer and Saige. In 1993, Fernando started working in the oilfield and eventually started his own business Vicor Oilfield Services Ltd. in August 1998, which continues to present day, being run by both Corey and Vicki. Fernando and Charlotte named their company Vicor after their kids Vicki and Corey. He was a very hard-working man, a workaholic as everyone called him, and took great pride in whatever he did. Fernando was a perfectionist and meticulous with everything he did, and if he wasn’t quite sure about something he would research until he was satisfied that he understood it completely. Fernando will be remembered for his strong work ethics and for being a great mentor to his children and all his employees. He was greatly respected by everyone who knew him. Fernando enjoyed camping, boating, and quadding whenever he got a chance. He also really enjoyed going to Vicki’s soccer tournaments and having discussions about work things with Corey. Fernando was so proud of his family, and the grandgirls meant the world to him. His family was the most important thing to him. Fernando was our whole family’s rock and will be missed beyond words. Fernando is predeceased by his parents, August and Maria Noronha, mother and father-in-law Chester and Helen Zukierski. He is survived by his loving wife Charlotte; children Corey (Jessica) Summer and Saige; Vicki; sisters, Teresa (Kevin) Slorstad, Thor, Abbey and Zac; Rosalia Noronha; Lucinda Noronha; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. In memory of Fernando, if friends desire, donations may be made directly to either the Cancer Society (via online) or a charity of one’s choice. A Private Family Service was held at Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Theiss officiating. Interment followed at Patricia Cemetery.
