Nelson – Ross Henry Nelson of Brooks, beloved husband of Marion Nelson, passed away in Brooks on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 at the age of 90 years. Ross was born in Taber, Alberta on March 9th, 1933 to Edgar and Mary Nelson and spent most of his childhood on a farm in Antelope Creek. He married Marion Rombough on December 16th, 1955 in Taber and they moved Rainier, where Ross worked for the Eastern Irrigation District and they raised their family. Following his retirement from the EID, Ross went to work for the Medicine Hat College, Brooks Campus, which at the time was located in the Old Brooks Hospital Building, until his full retirement. In their later years, Ross and Marion travelled extensively, their favorite destinations being the Yukon and Alaska. They also took trips to New Zealand and Europe. Many hours were spent on the road in their conversion van, exploring. Ross is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Marion; 5 children, Ben (Zulfiya) Nelson, Reece (Brenda) Nelson, Ken (Trudy) Nelson, Penny (Steve) Hagg and Peggy (Ted) Garner, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. Ross’ family would like to thank Sunrise Gardens for their wonderful care and compassion while Ross was in their care. Private Family Graveside Services will be held from Brooks Cemetery.
