Nelson – Muriel Mary Nelson was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, on June 15, 1945 to the late Steve and Helen Grodzack. While working in a café in the High River area, she met Glen Nelson and never left his side. They were married on April 29, 1967 and enjoyed 47 years of a happy life until Glen’s passing on August 28, 2014. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Brooks and started a family. Muriel was very content in her home raising her three children, Bonnie, Jeff and Glen, Jr. She did this until 1983, when she began working at Brooks Junior High School and remained there until she retired after 23 years. Muriel was very generous in her time and energy. She was well-known for her gardening and baking prowess. She was supportive in providing meals to the many brothers and sisters who worked on Kingdom Hall Construction in the Brooks area. One thing people might not know about Muriel is that she was a seamstress of sorts. She always made sure new babies in her life received a home-made blanket. Those blankets have been passed down and are found in areas all around the world. Muriel was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was active in her theocratic life, attending meeting by means of Zoom and even in person, while she was able. Muriel is survived by her three children, Bonnie (Hamed) Al-Faislawi; Jeff (Angelina) Nelson and Glen (Angela) Nelson; her grandchildren Steven (JoJo), Hana, Thomas, Logan and Noah. Also a great-granddaughter, Bella; as well as numerous friends and family. She is survived by her siblings: Fred, Sage, Carol, Jane, Mavis and Helen. Besides her parents and her husband, Glen, she was predeceased by her brothers, Gary and Ken. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 5 at 2:00 PM from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Brooks. Mr. Barry Nygard officiating.
