Monster – David John Monster of Brooks, Alberta beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away in Brooks on Sunday, March 20th, 2022 at the age of 71 years. David was born in Fortune, Newfoundland on August 11th, 1950 to George (Ben) and Emily Monster. He received his education in Fortune and following high school, trained to be a pipefitter. David married Philomena Myles on January 13th, 1973 in Fortune, where they would reside until 1999, from there relocating to Brooks. He worked for the Marystown Shipyard, CP Rail in the 1970’s and lastly Sanjel in Brooks, where he stayed until his retirement. David absolutely loved hockey and was an enthusiastic Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He enjoyed annual trips to Florida to visit his son Stephen and his family. David belonged to many clubs in his younger years, playing hockey and soccer. He will fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his immense love for his family and friends. David was predeceased by his parents, George Ben and Emily Monster and brother, George, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Philomena; children, Stephen and his wife Ann of Tampa, Florida, Rhonda and her husband Codie of Lake Newell Resort; grandchildren, Shannon of St John’s, Newfoundland, Brandon of Red Deer, Alberta, Kaden of Lake Newell Resort and Callum and Ethan of Tampa; siblings, Ellen of Barrie, Ontario and Stan of Fortune and numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends. A Private Family Service was held from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Theiss officiating. In memory of David, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3.
