Meyer – Randall Allan Meyer of Brooks, passed away in Castor, Alberta on Thursday, July 26th, 2018 at the age of 63 years. Randy was born in Cabri, Saskatchewan on July 1st, 1955. The Meyer family resided in Lancer until 1956/57, when they moved to Brooks. Randy attended school in Brooks. He met Rhea Fredrickson in 1977 and they were married in 1978. They were blessed with a baby girl, Shauna Lea in 1979, then a boy, Derrick Randall in 1981. Randy had his own concrete business for a while and later went to work for the Meyer family business, Brooks Decorating. The family resided in Brooks until 1985, when they relocated to Swift Current. While in Swift Current, Randy worked short stints with Pioneer Co-op as flooring manager and Sherwin Williams as Paint Manager. He worked at Home and Auto as paint manager for a number of years, before starting his own contracting company with Greg Wickwire, doing odd jobs for people around the Swift Current area. Rhea and Randy parted ways in 1997 and Randy moved back to Brooks shortly thereafter. He worked as a Department Manager at the newly opened Walmart in Brooks. He moved to Provost for a few years to help out as a cook at Gus’ Restaurant, then later returned to Brooks and where he worked for Home Hardware. Randy was a very hard worker and a talented salesman. Everyone always said he could sell ice to an Eskimo, and he would probably get a premium price for it! He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, fishing, goose hunting, baseball and playing crib. He also loved his animals. The home always had a pet. Randy was successful at anything he put his mind to. He will be most remembered for his quick wit and sense of humour. Randy had the ability to make everything in life fun. His carefree attitude and kind heart were contagious. He was everyone’s “Uncle Randy” – even if he just met you. Randy was predeceased by his father, Walter Meyer and his mother and step father, Dorothy and Charlie Saum, brother-in-law Bob Christiansen and a number of beloved pets. He is survived by daughter, Shauna Lacher and her husband Wade and son, Derrick Meyer and his wife Chantel; grandchildren, Nicole Meyer, Austin Meyer, Carson Lacher, Jenna Lacher, Ashlynn Meyer and Kayden Meyer; brothers, Wally Meyer, Joe Meyer and his wife Sandra, Larry Meyer and his wife Lorna and Rick Meyer; sisters, Helen Christiansen and Gladys Wiart and her husband Leo and numerous nieces and nephews.
