Medeiros – Manuel Boliero Medieros of Bassano, Alberta, beloved husband of Maria Medeiros, passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, at the age of 92 years. Manuel was born in Lomba do Loucao Azores, Portugal on February 7th,1932 to Elias De Medeiros and Irondina Boliero De Medeiros. He married Maria Boliero on October 10th, 1954 in Lomba Do Poudacao Azores, Portugal. Manuel and Maria lived in Portugal until the late 1950s, when they moved to Canada. They settled in Rosemary, Alberta, where he was stationed while working for the CPR. Manuel was transferred to Bassano, Alberta in 1961 and in 1967 they purchased a farm outside of Bassano, where they farmed for many years. They sold the farm in 1977 and moved into Bassano, where Manuel worked as a carpenter. Around the year 2000, Manuel retired from carpentry, and they moved to Summerland, British Columbia, where they grew a fruit orchard. Manuel and Maria moved back to Bassano to be closer to family, officially retiring, well into their 80s. He enjoyed carpentry, playing cards, making his own wine, gardening, tending to his fruit orchard and was a member of the Portuguese Club. Manuel will be fondly remembered as a hard worker and a social butterfly who told great stories. He was predeceased by his parents, Elias De Medeiros and Irondina Boliero De Medeiros and first-born son, Manuel Medeiros. Manuel is survived by his loving wife Maria; children, Irondina Bremault and her husband Rick, Henric Medeiros, Frank Medeiros and his wife Shelly; grandkids, Amanda, Darcy, Manuel Jr., Nancy, Miranda, Melissa, Christopher, Kevin, Michelle and Jenny and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 2nd from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The start time of the Funeral Mass will be updated once finalized. Interment in Bassano Cemetery. In memory of Manuel, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to St. Joseph’s Home, 156 – 3rd Street NE, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 5M1.
