    Martin, Marian Elaine (1946 – 2022)

Marian Elaine Martin went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday January 28, 2022 at the age of 75 years. She was born November 11, 1946 at Edmonton, Alberta to Ernie and Pearl Yoder.

Marian grew up on the family farm until the family moved to the city of Camrose, Alberta. Marian attended Camrose public high School to grade 12. Once she graduated, she went on to Edmonton to get a job at the University Hospital in the office as a clerk. She would spend many days filing in the office. Marian would come home on the weekends to see her mom and dad and also to attend youth group. This is where she met a young fellow named Butch Martin and the rest is history. They were married May 30, 1970 and she moved to Brooks where they started their lives together. They are blessed to have 3 children Darcy, Dallas & Candy whom they raised together on their farm. Mom was a busy lady. She was a very kind woman who loved to shop. She was not one to sit still. She operated the kitchen at Brooks Livestock Auction Market. She would cook the food to be sold in the kitchen at home and then transport it across the field in hopes that nothing would spill on the way over and arrive all in one piece. Marian was known for her pies; she would make pies from scratch by the dozens every August and then freeze them so they would be freshly baked on sale days. Marian loved to garden, it was a passion to have a very neat and well kept weed free yard and flower garden. This is something she enjoyed being outside alone with no one to bother her by the hours, out in God’s creation. She would spend many hours in prayer out there. Marian also looked after the church kitchen at Victory Church when there were special events. She was known for her cake baking and decorating skills. Mom and Dad also entertained many friends and family in their home. Through the years there was always someone coming over to have a meal as you can tell from her numinous guest books entries. You would never leave hungry, and there was many laughs and memories that were shared around the kitchen table.

Marian was predeceased by her parents, Ernie and Pearl Yoder and husband, Butch Martin.  Marian leaves her son Darcy (Karene) Martin of Langdon, Alberta, son Dallas (Shannon) Martin of Duchess Alberta, daughter Candy (Stacy) Stein of Brooks Alberta, grand children and great grandchildren, numerous other family members.
