Klassen – Zelma Klassen, the beloved wife of the late Cornelius Klassen of 61 years, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Saviour on January 3rd, 2022 at the age of 88 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Ken (Alva) and Les (Lina); her grandchildren Carmen, Graham (Meghan), Logan (Kaylee), Mark, Kameron, and two great grandchildren Ellis and Tori. Zelma was predeceased by her parents, four sisters and six brothers. Zelma was born October 27th, 1933 in Didsbury, Alberta. She met her husband Cornelius during a church camp and after a couple years of letter writing, they married. After moving to the Klassen farmstead in Rosemary, Zelma joined the Rosemary Mennonite Church, where her husband was a member and quickly became active in choir and teaching Sunday School. She was known by her family as an amazing bread and pie maker. Zelma loved gardening, creating new flower designs, and connecting with friends and family. Zelma’s pride and joy were her family. She would always make herself available for whatever her family needed. Whether that was a ride to the combine, looking after the grandkids, or a late night apple pie. In 2017, Zelma and Cornelius moved off the farm to the Newbrook Lodge in Brooks. Zelma loved meeting friends and family for a McDonald’s for coffee throughout the week, or driving out to the farm to visit family. On January 2nd, 2022 Zelma experienced a severe stroke and slipped into a coma. She peacefully passed away with family by her side on January 3rd, 2022. A Private Family Service was held at Rosemary Mennonite Church with Josh Mueller officiating. Interment followed at Rosemary Cemetery.
