KARASEK – John Timothy Karasek
1943 – 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce John’s passing in Kelowna, B.C., on June 14, 2024. John was born on July 1, 1943, in Paddington East, England. He immigrated to Canada with his mother, Iris Harris, who married John Karasek Senior in Brooks, Alberta.
John spent his youth and young adult life in the Tilley/Brooks region, where he married Beverly Clarke. After settling into the Edmonton area, John and Beverly had three daughters: Wendy, Sheila, and Leesa. John was the sole proprietor of Karasek Tire, where he was known as the “Friendly Neighborhood Tireman” for 25 years. Sadly, Beverly passed away in 1994 from cancer.
John married Darlene Pichota from Beauvallon, Alberta. They spent 25 years together working in Edmonton, wintering in Yuma, Arizona, and spending summers in Winfield, Alberta and Winfield, B.C.
John is survived by his wife, Darlene Karasek; his three daughters, Wendy Schurman, Sheila Karasek, and Leesa Lambert; his four grandchildren, Clayton, Brooke, Katrina, and Laura; and his great-grandson Braxton.
John’s life was celebrated by friends and family in Winfield, B.C., on July 1st, 2024. It would have been his 81st birthday.
