    HYRVE – Alice Hyrve of Brooks, passed away peacefully in Brooks, on August 13th, 2003 at the age of 99 years. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 29th, 1904 Alice received all her education there. She moved to Calgary in 1925 and worked at the YWCA. Alice married Algodt Hyrve on January 16th, 1927 in Calgary and moved to Gem in 1929. Together they farmed in Gem until retiring to Lethbridge in 1960. Alice moved to Brooks in 1986 where she had resided since. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, cooking, baking, life and friends. Alice will be remembered for her singing and her humour. She was predeceased by her husband Algodt in 1985, son Harold in March, 2003, great grandson Alec Greenwood in October, 1993 and son-in-law Fred Greenwood in 1999. Alice is survived by her loving family, 3 children, Norman of Sherwood Park, Arnold and his wife Winnie of High River and Marilyn Greenwood of Brooks; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 18th from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. Jake Doerksen officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Alice’s family and friends. Active Pallbearers were Tom Greenwood, Norman Hyrve Jr., Jim Hryve and Patrick Conaty. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.
