Husty – Stanley Frank Husty of Duchess passed away June 10, 2007 in Duchess at the age of eighty three years. Born October 31, 1923 in Luzkovice, Czechoslovakia Stanley immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1927, settling first to Raymond, Alberta and then to the Carmangay, Alberta area. He attended grade school in Carmangay and completed his schooling in Duchess after his family purchased a farm near Duchess in 1935. After high school Stanley earned his Diesel Mechanics in Vancouver, BC. For two years he served in the RCAF as a Wireless Operator Air-gunner in the Pacific North West and Alaska. These were some of his happiest memories. After Stanley was discharged from the RCAF, he spent two winters working as a diesel mechanic in Flare, Alberta and summers working on the family farm. He continued working on the farm, while enjoying hunting, fishing, curling and ham radio. Years later, he took over the family farm and married Doris Dornan of Finnegan, Alberta. Here they raised a family of six children. For the last several years, Stanley enjoyed his semi-retirement on the farm working his garden along with his ever growing fruit orchard. He always enjoyed going fishing, along with a good joke and a tall fishing tale or two. Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Marie and one infant brother. He is survived by his wife Doris of Brooks, daughters Audrey (Alec) Godkin of Brooks, Norma (Bradley) Slorstad of Sunnynook, Carla (Ed) Gillen of Brooks, sons Rod Husty of Medicine Hat, Les (Michelle) Husty of Brooks and Bill Husty of Medicine Hat; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Buck of Brooks and Francis (Corny) Loewan of Vauxhall and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Monday June 18 at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. Alvin Penner officiated. Active Pallbearers were Rod Husty, Les Husty, Bill Husty, Jason Godkin, Carson Slorstad and Bob Slorstad. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Stanley’s family and friends. Interment followed at Duchess Cemetery. In memory of Stanley, if friends desire, memorial donations can be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements in care of SMITH FUNERAL HOME.
