Hogan – John Leonard Hogan of Cluny, beloved husband of Rose Hogan, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 3rd, 2021 at the age of 66 years, after a long battle with health issues. John was born on December 21st, 1954 in Windsor, Ontario, the youngest of 4 boys born to John and Mary Theresa Warren. He was a man of many talents and it showed in the diverse jobs he held throughout his working life. John was of served in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Infantry (IRCR), served in the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires in Windsor, worked as an assistant guide for Big Game Hunters in British Columbia, was a tourist guide in the Rocky Mountains, worked as a Cowboy on ranches in Alberta and British Columbia, worked in the oil and gas and pipeline industries, was a carpenter in commercial and residential construction, worked for International Trucks as border dispatch and was a member of the Amateur Rodeo Association and Canadian Oldtimer’s Rodeo Association in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, where he competed in Bull Riding and Bareback. He was a free style climber with over 200 mountains climbed. John followed in his Mother’s footsteps, pursuing many different forms of art, applying both original and traditional styles of recognized artists to present complimentary additions to his own designs with acceptable results. His Father’s Meti background inspired him to create art that presented Native Lore, both in it or complimenting his design. John led an adventurous, nomadic life from his teenage years until his mid-fifties, when his illnesses left him homebound but without any regrets, until his death. He left behind many fond memories with those who crossed his path during his adventures, where he made many friendships. John is survived by his wife of 40 years and his “Alberta Girl”, Rose Marie Joy Larsen; daughters, Laurel (John) Ferraz, Theresa (Kevin) Hogan, and Margaret Hogan; grandchildren, Cymantha Lee, Natasha Anne, Rapheal, Dakota, Kohen and Farren Anne; great grandchildren, Ayva, Victoria (Vikki), Scott Navarro and Evelyn and many other family and friends who enriched his life beyond measure.
