    June 6, 1931 to September 24, 2018

Reinhold Hirch went to be with his Lord and Saviour on September 24, 2018 at the age of 87 years. Reinhold was the beloved husband of Charlotte Hirch for 62 years. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his five children, Linda (Earl) Binder, Dorothy (Victor) Lethbridge, Rolf (Vicki) Hirch, Larry (Rachelle) Hirch, and Sheila (Matthias) Hirch as well as grandchildren Jessica (Justin) Mohan, Karla (Derek) Wolbeck, Ellie Hirch, Conor Hirch, Liam Hirch, Maddie Hirch, Telissa Lethbridge, great grandson Bennett Wolbeck, his siblings Edmund (Ruby) Hirch, Irma (Abe) Neufeldt, Helmut Hirch and numerous nieces and nephews. Reinhold was predeceased by siblings, Rosalie Proehl, Otto (Lilly) Hirch, and Alfred (Elizabeth) Hirch and grandson Brett Binder. Reinhold was born June 6, 1931 in Werben, Ukraine where his German ancestors farmed for over 125 years. During WWII his family was forcibly sent to Poland and then to Germany as war refugees. In 1951 Reinhold immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings and settled at Lethbridge, AB. Since he had apprenticed as a Blacksmith in Germany, Reinhold obtained his pressure welding ticket and a good job. Soon he met and married the love of his life, Charlotte Hirschkorn. Together they purchased a farm in Rolling Hills, AB and resumed his family heritage of farming. They arrived at their farm mid-November, 1957 with one year old Linda and newborn Dorothy. Before long Rolf, Larry, and Sheila were added to the family. Reinhold farmed for over 60 years and had a passion for horses, cattle, growing crops, and machinery. He also enjoyed curling and supported his children in their endeavours of Pony Club, 4-H Beef, school sports, stock car racing, and of course, farming. Reinhold loved spending time with the family, especially his grandchildren, “the Kindies”. In his later years he enjoyed going for drives to check cattle, sitting in the sunlight, and affectionately holding Charlotte’s hand. Reinhold / Dad / Opa was thankful for all that he had as he lived the life he desired. He was loved and his gentle nature, patience, and kindness will be missed. Funeral Service for Reinhold Hirch will be held on Friday October 5, 2018 2:00 pm at Rolling Hills, AB Community Hall.
