Highet – Margaret Florence (Wilkerson) Highet was born on November 16th, 1928 in Edmonton.  She was the oldest of 5 children, who lived on a farm in Beaumont, Alberta.  In her younger years she lived between Beaumont and Edmonton with her grandparents, where she often performed song and dance on CFRN radio in Edmonton.  After graduating high school, she went to work as a bank teller in Edmonton.  This is where she met her future husband Bill on a “blind date”.  Once married, she followed Bill to various parts of western Canada, where his job in the oil and gas industry took them.  After over 30+ moves they settled in Princess, where Bill was the station chief and they met their lifetime friends.  Bill then had an opportunity to move to Dubai, UAE, where he had a 3-year contract.  This gave them and Tom the ability to travel to many destinations in the Far East.  They then retired to the Okanagan for 7 years and missed family and friends so moved back to Brooks.  Marg loved curling, golf, bowling and fishing.  She enjoyed her flowers and would sit many hours crocheting.  She was a huge Blue Jays fan whether on a bus trip to Seattle or flying to Toronto to watch them play live and watching them on TV until her passing.  Margaret is survived by her children, Rae Dyck, Sandi (Carl) Hannigan, Margie (Paul) Seaton and Tom Highet; sister Gladys McKerrall; 4 grandkids, Shannon (Andy) Kellough, Carmen Brown, Penn (Ashley) Seaton and Bret (Brett) Howe; 8 great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.  Special thanks to the nursing staff at the Brooks Hospital and the staff in Medicine Hat Hospital.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26th at 2:00 PM from the Heritage Inn and Convention Centre.  Rev. John Theiss officiating.  Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.  In memory of Margeret, if friends and family desire, they can make a memorial contribution directly to the Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 1B3.
