Henrickson – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clinton Henrickson of Patricia, beloved husband of Frances Henrickson and much loved father of Alma Henrickson. Clint passed away at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday July 30, 2020 at the age of 87. Clint was born on October 19, 1932 on the original homestead outside of Patricia, to parents Harvey and Alma (Thompson) Henrickson. He was delivered by his maternal grandmother in a small house on the property on which he resided his entire life (if asked if he would move to Brooks, he would say “I was BORN here”), and was named by his aunt Edna Dale. Clint attended Haddington School in Patricia until grade 10, completing his high school in Brooks. He attended the Olds College Agriculture program, class of 1952, and also attended a cadet program in BC. His family raised sheep until 1949, when they sold out and started raising Hereford cattle, which were highly sought after by buyers. The family also raised hay and other crops in a partnership known as Henrickson Ranching Company, with his father and 2 of his brothers; Doug and Keith. He met the love of his life, Frances in 1964. They were married on February 20, 1965 in Calgary. Alma was born on November 18, 1966. Clint served on the board for Patricia Hall and the curling rink, as well as Bow Slope Shipping (chairman from 1975 to 85). Founding member and 40 year director of Dinosaur Gas from 1973 to 2013, serving as chair and vice chair. Received the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-op Honorary Lifetime Membership Award in 2010. Director on the EID board for 18 years (1991 to 2009). EID representative of the Brooks Chamber of Commerce (16 years). Instrumental in getting the Environment minister to improve the Environmental Act under the Cretien Government. Member of Bow River Basin Committee for 5 years. EID representative on the AIPA for 18 years (3 years as chair), receiving the Gold Award on February 23, 2010. Chair of steering committee for Alberta Agriculture Forum for 3 years. Judged the John Ware 4H public speaking competitions. Secretary of the Division 3 Agricultural Society. Board member for Seniors Outreach Society. Family was extremely important to Clint, as was his love of the land and agriculture; most importantly proper water and land management. He always said “without water, you have nothing”. He had the ability to fix anything and fashion something out of nothing, including many innovations to assist his daughter as she grew up. He even built her a 3 wheel bicycle out of 2 bicycles so she could keep up with everyone else. He was patient, kind, considerate and thoughtful, and was always willing to volunteer his time. He always appreciated the kindness of others. He had a unique sense of humor and a gift for helping others to self-improve. Clint was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Alma; stepmother Anna; 2 brothers, Bryce and Keith; 2 sisters-in-law, Jean (Doug) and Lu (Doug); nephew Glen; great niece Illisa and numerous aunts and uncles. Clint is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Frances and beloved daughter, Alma; brother Doug; sister-in-law Dian (Keith) and former sister-in-law Fay (Bryce). We would like to thank the numerous medical personnel who cared for Clint over the years. A private family service was held on Aug 7, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev John Theiss officiating. Burial followed Brooks Cemetery. In memory of Clint, donations may be made directly to charity of choice. We thank everyone who has supported us in this difficult time. Very special thanks to Kelly and staff at Smith Funeral Home for their kindness, care and guidance. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED.
