    Beverley Hargrave

    July 1, 1940 ~ November 28, 2023

It is with deep sorrow that we share with you that Beverley Ann Hargrave passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 83 years.

Bev is the beloved mother to Susan (Bill) Hanlon, Tannis (Bernie) Stoski, and Sheri (Duane) Forde; loving NaNa and Gabbie to Justin (Kayla), Ty (Jenn), and Cameo Hanlon, Joshua, Jackson, and Jameson Stoski, and Quincy and Payton Forde and caring sister to Audrey Ward. Bev was predeceased by her son, Michael Dean; the father of her children, Douglas and her parents, Oscar and Vicki Watson.

Bev was born in Medicine Hat on July 1st, 1940. She graduated from Medicine Hat High School and went on to further her     education at the University of Alberta where she received her teacher certification. Later in life, Bev would go on to earn her Bachelor of Education Degree at the University of Lethbridge, and convocate alongside her daughter, Tannis. She also added an Associate of Arts diploma from Medicine Hat College. With her education, Bev taught grade 3 at River Heights Elementary School in Medicine Hat before marriage. She was also was a substitute teacher in Brooks.

Bev was part of U of A’s mixed choir and theatrical club; joined the Brooks Kinnettes, took on various roles on the Board of the Brooks Figure Skating Club and was also instrumental in bringing to life the Sports Complex in Brooks.

There was nothing that brought Bev more joy than her children and she was their biggest cheerleader! You could find her at the rink in the early morning watching them figure skate, court side after school and on weekends as they played basketball, or taking in various other events from horse shows to pageants. That love spilled over to her eight grandchildren whom she spent countless hours playing, reading and baking with. She loved a good game of crib and a competitive round of bridge. In her later years, Bev’s nurturing nature led her to caring for the elderly when she lived in Blairmore, Alberta.

Bev’s passion was travel. That love took her from the Great Wall of China, to the Harbour of Sydney, Australia, to Buckingham Palace in London, England, to the beaches of Mexico, to an African Safari and everywhere in between. In fact, she was months away from setting sail on her 21st cruise!
