HAMILTON, DESMOND EDWARD (Des)
1944 – 2023
On March 20, 2023 Des passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Des is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Frances (Fran), daughter Kimberley, son Bradley (Jackie) grand children Breanne, Isaac, brother Wayne, sister Carmen as well as numerous relatives, friends and working colleagues.
Des was predeceased by his parents and brothers Ray(mond) and Carl.
Des was born in Middlesex, England July 14, 1944 and immigrated to Canada as a war baby growing up in London, Ontario.
Des entered the Canadian Army in Alberta for a stint after which he eventually settled in Taber firstly running a gas station car wash business and then LAD Wellsite Trailers. After the sale of LAD together with Frances they acquired Jo-ann Trucking Ltd., Brooks in 1986 successfully growing the business before eventually selling out and retiring in 2000. Des was very proud of his years spent at “People With Purple Power”.
They enjoyed their retirement years in Sicamous, BC, Vernon, BC and winters in Palm Springs where a lot of time was spent on the Indian Springs Golf and CC which Des was a part owner of. They enjoyed sharing their home on the golf course with family and friends and always enjoyed a good party.
The family wishes to thank all the dedicated health care professionals who cared for Des including staff at Vernon General Hospital and Vernon Hospice.
Des will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Rest in Peace.
