Hajash – Kathleen Evelyn Hajash, aged 83, passed away in Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario on July 23, 2015. Katie was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, and moved with her family to Brooks in 1935. She grew up in the One Tree area, attending Sutherland School, Clancy School, and Brooks High School. After high school, she attended Henderson College, obtaining her secretarial designation, which led her to her future career as a certified law clerk in Ontario, specializing in estates. Katie worked for various law firms in Brooks, Australia, Dawson Creek, and Toronto. Kay was always an independent, resourceful lady who was willing to lend a helping hand to friends, relatives, and those in need. In spite of living away from family for more than forty years, she kept in constant touch with them. In recent years the family bonds strengthened. Katie was predeceased by her parents Jim and Katherine Hajash, and her brothers Joe, Jim, and Mickey Hajash. She is survived by her sister and best friend Liz Baksa, sisters-in-law Jacqueline Hajash and Donna Hajash, and numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family including her close friends in Ontario. Kay was a woman who lived life to the fullest on her own terms. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5th at 11:00 AM from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Long Vu officiating. Interment at Brooks Cemetery.
