    HAJASH – Grayson Michael (Mickey) Hajash, aged 90, passed away in Victoria, B.C. on March 27, 2015. He is survived by Donna, his loving wife of 65 years, children Patricia of Victoria and David of Vancouver, grandchildren, great grandchildren, 2 sisters Liz Baksa of Brooks and Katie Hajash of Toronto, and sister-in-law Jacqueline Hajash of Brooks. He was predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers, Joe and Jim, sister-in-law Liz Hajash, and brother-in-law Jim Baksa, all of Brooks.
    Mickey’s lifelong interest in athletics began while attending Brooks High School where he excelled in track and field. While attending University he became captain of the University of Alberta Golden Bears, then played for the Calgary Stampeders and baseball with the Calgary Purity 99 team. He became an avid recreational golfer and served as attache to the Sierra Leone team during the 1994 Commonwealth Games. In recent years Mickey was inducted into the University of Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.
    His employment as a geophysicist with Exxon Mobile Group for 40 years started in Calgary in 1947 and ended in London, England in 1987, following which he and Donna retired in Victoria, B.C..
    Many worthy causes and individuals benefited from his support, including the Rotary Club of Victoria, Heart and Stroke Foundation, United Way of Canada, student scholarships at three universities and, his most gratifying, the scholarships awarded to students at Brooks Composite High School. His dedication during a remarkably full and long life will be remembered.
    A memorial service was held on April 1, 2015 at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria B.C. V8Y 1B4.
