GRUSENDORF – James Arthur (Les) Grusendorf of Magrath Alberta passed away 21 Oct 2004 at his daughter’s home in Provo Utah at the age of 91. Les was born 21 Sep 1913 in Calgary. He was predeceased by his wife Hazel in 1993. He is survived by Art (Marilyn) Grusendorf of Magrath, Tom (Hazel) Grusendorf of Calgary, Peggy Grusendorf of Provo, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and a special chosen daughter Midge Patrick and her family of 7 children and 9 grandchildren. Brother-in-law Archie (Vi) Toole of Ottawa, Ontario. Foster sister Alice Feskey of Medicine Hat, Alberta. When Les was just a year old he and his mother moved to Bingville, Alberta where his uncle was homesteading, and he grew up there. He married the new school teacher, Hazel Toole in 1939. They lived in various Southern Alberta Communities. Throughout his life Les helped others-if your furnace needed fixing you called Les, if your car needed repairs you called Les. He was a jack of all trades who could fix and invent most anything to make the job work more efficiently. He was a mechanic and a welder by trade and later became a natural gas installer as well as the village maintenance man in Rosemary, Alberta. He built or remodeled every home he and Hazel ever lived in. Les and Hazel joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1944 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. They were sealed in the Alberta Temple and remained active members of the church their entire lives. Les had many different callings in the church but his favorite was always home teaching. He loved the families he was called to home teach. Les felt the most important thing in life was to serve others and to be obedient. He was a man without guile who never spoke an unkind word about anyone. Funeral Services will be held at the LDS Garden Place Chapel in Magrath 2 PM Saturday 30 Oct with internment in Magrath Cemetery. Meet the Family 7-8 PM Friday 29 Oct at Christenson-Salmon Funeral Home in Lethbridge and 1-1:45 PM Saturday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Dialysis Unit (Lethbridge).
