GRAVES – James Edward William (Bill) Graves, aged 74 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Brooks Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary Graves of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene, and the pride of his life, his two sons: Rick (Chrystal) of Brooks and Dave (Angela) of Medicine Hat and by his four beloved grandchildren: Nolan, Caitlin, Loki and Clio.
Bill is also survived by his two sisters: Pat (Barry) Aldag, and Linda (Ron) Friesen all of Swift Current, Saskatchewan and their families. He leaves behind a favorite aunt, Doris Graves of Grande Prairie and many cousins from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Stockton-on-Tees, England.
After high school Bill left Shaunavon for Regina, Saskatchewan to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1966. He spent his police career in various postings in Alberta eventually settling in Brooks.
After retiring from the police force, Bill worked in security. His last position was as a commissionaire at the Suffield Army Base.
Bill was a member of the Legion and a member of the RCMP Veteran’s Association.
Bill’s ashes will be buried in Shaunavon at the Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, they may donate to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Brooks Legion #63 in Bill’s name. 33p
