    Goudie – Kathleen Joyce (Kay) Goudie of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 at the age of 84 years. Kay was born on July 10, 1935 to Jehu Troxell (Jay or “Grampy”) and June Royer (Vliet) in Bassano, Alberta. Despite losing baby brother Phillip, and her mother June at the tender age of 11, Kay’s childhood in Gem was full of love and family. She married Win Goudie in 1955 and they had three children; Linda Diana, Jehu (Jerry) George and Cheryl June, which they raised almost entirely in Gem. What Kay lacked in the monetary was more than made compensated for in the richness of treasured family, neighbors and friends, noting that life in itself was valued by Kay and it blessed her copiously. She raised her family, worked at the Gem School the Bassano Hospital and briefly at Schaffers’ Car Dealership in Bassano. Kay was divorced in the early 1980’s, after which she acquired her RNA Certificate from AVC and continued her remaining working career in nursing at the Brooks Auxiliary Hospital. She purchased a sweet little home in Brooks, which so many visited so very often. Kay spent much of these years traveling the globe with endeared friends or family, especially after retiring. She later enjoyed residing at Newbrook Lodge, followed by a brief reside at Orchard Manor, which was followed by Sunrise Gardens. Kay was predeceased by her parents June and Jehu and her son, Jerry (1983) as well as brothers Phillip, Curtis, David and Max. She is survived by brother Don (Elaine) Royer, sister Betty (Arnie) Lerch and sisters-in-law Joan and Dorrie Royer. Also, are her daughters, Linda (Glen) Scheibner and Cheryl (Laurie) Spicer and grandsons, Carl (Samantha), Derek (Vanessa), Lawrence (Kayley) Scheibner and Duane (Mona) and Jonas (Renee) Goudie and their collective 12 grandchildren. A Family Graveside service was held at Bassano Cemetery. Rev. Peter Baek officiated.
