Ginet – The family of Beverley Ginet (Gorski) is saddened to announce her passing at her home in Brooks, Alberta on August 13, 2022. While we are grieving the loss of Bev, we take comfort in knowing her passing was peaceful. Bev was born on November 4, 1955, in Regina, Saskatchewan and spent her childhood and teenage years in the city alongside her mother, Marie. It was there in 1974 that she met the love of her life, Denis, and the two were married on November 22, 1975. While living in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Bev and Denis welcomed Bradley, their son, in 1977 and daughter Tanya in 1979. After a short stop in Wainwright, Alberta, the couple began building the life they dreamed of in Brooks in 1981. In 1983, they completed their happy family with the arrival of daughter Deanna. Bev worked at CIBC in Swift Current for a time before turning her focus to supporting Denis and the children in their lives and careers. She never lost her interest in business, though, as she later started her own candle-making and carving business. Bev was fiercely proud of Denis and her children and could be found everywhere as the kids grew up – dropping them off at school, taking them to their daily activities and acting as a surrogate mother to so many friends along the way. During that time, she also did sacrament preparation and taught catechism and confirmation classes for St. Mary’s Parish. While Bev devoted her adult years to her family, she did not play second fiddle to anyone. She was highly intelligent and reminisced fondly of skipping Grade 3 as a young child and, thus, finishing high school one year early. She was a trivia buff with a vast knowledge of facts and the world around her and enjoyed flexing those muscles in family games of Trivial Pursuit and winning trivia contests on several of the cruises that she and Denis took over the years. That knowledge was a product of her thirst for reading; those who have visited the family home know the volume of books that stand on the shelves and few sat unread. Bev enjoyed playing cards and travelling with Denis and the family – Disneyland and Phoenix were two of her favourite destinations. She loved to laugh and was hilarious in her own right, always quick with a quip for anyone who had let their guard down. Her famous crepe and spaghetti sauce recipes will be a legacy she leaves behind to her children, grandchildren, other family members and friends. Bev was a consummate gift-giver and loved nothing more than to see the faces of her three children and seven grandchildren light up at birthdays and Christmas when they discovered what Nanny and Papa had given them. Bev is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 47 years, Denis; son Brad, daughters Tanya Elliott (Rob) and Deanna McWhirter (Matthew); and seven grandchildren: Emerson, Ella and Charlie Ginet, Spencer and Harper Elliott and Charlotte and Alden McWhirter. Bev was predeceased by her mother, Marie (Meme) Gorski, mother-in-law Beatrice and father-in-law Rene Ginet and several aunts and uncles. In loving memory of Bev, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brooks (511 4 St W, Brooks, AB, T1R 0E5) on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Marino Infante Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly in Bev’s memory to The Kidney Foundation of Canada (kidney.ca), 6007 1A Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T2H 0G5.
