Enns – Mary Enns of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Ted Enns, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the age of 89 years. Born in Bassano on March 21, 1934, to Jakob and Maria (Kasdorf) Lepp, Mary was the oldest of 3 surviving children. Mary grew up in Namaka, Alberta and attended rural local schools. She was raised in a Christian home, baptized upon her confession of faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, and later became an active life-long member of the Rosemary Mennonite Church, serving in many capacities. Mary worked for a short time in Calgary, but met her future husband Theodore Enns, through activities with the Rosemary Mennonite Church. They were married in Namaka on March 20, 1955, and moved to the Rosemary area to farm where she and Ted raised crops, cows, and 4 boys. Mary loved to bake, cook, entertain, and socialize, and hospitality was her service and her joy. She was a great appreciator of many kinds of music, especially classical; and many don’t know that she was an experienced whistler, her kitchen her stage. Mary and Ted enjoyed many travel trips, more so after retirement; and when they were no longer able to travel, she continued to be an avid reader. Mary will be remembered for her cheerfulness, positivity, and generous hospitality. Mary was predeceased by her husband Ted of 65 years, her parents Maria Lepp, Jakob Lepp, and later stepmother Anne Lepp, sister Helen Oldham, and 2 infant brothers John Lepp and John J. Lepp. She leaves behind sons, Dan (Cheryl), Terry (Eunice), Derek (Faye), and Dale (Wendy); 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, a brother Jake (Angie) Lepp, a brother-in-law Richard (Betty) Oldham, a niece and 3 nephews. A Funeral Service was held at the Rosemary Mennonite Church on Monday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. with lunch and visiting to followed. Interment at Rosemary Cemetery.
