Henry Dyck, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in Calgary at the age of 94 years.
Born in Michelsburg, Ukraine on June 11, 1930, Henry immigrated to Canada with his family at a young age, settling in Bassano where he completed a motor mechanic apprenticeship. He met Katharina (Katie) in Coaldale, and they married in 1956. The couple moved to Calgary, where Henry worked at Universal Ford until 1964 when they relocated their young family to a farm just outside Brooks, AB. Henry’s life was marked by his dedication to his family and his diverse interests. He had a passion for spending time with his family and friends and playing chess, card games, and billiards. He treasured the time spent with his loved ones, creating lasting memories through multiple worldwide vacations, and visiting his birthplace, Ukraine, and travelling to India with his sons.
He is survived by his sister Anne Curtis, and his three sons, Richard (Janine), Heinz (Irene), and Willy (Edith); along with their families. Henry was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie), Aidan, and Connor Dyck, Melissa Kallis, Nicole and Brennan (Sarah) Schumaker, Chad (Trish) Kloberdanz, Katiya and Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck; and five great-grandchildren, Emily and Milo Dyck, Cayden Schumaker, and Kane and Levi Schumaker.
