Duckett – Wes Duckett of Taber, beloved husband of Melissa and father to a son Kip, passed away peacefully at the Taber Hospital on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at the age of 43 years. Wes was born in Calgary on October 17th, 1974. He graduated from Strathmore High School in 1993. Wes then moved to Brooks, to work with his family, running Kinbrook Island Campground and Race Trac Gas Station. In 2004 Wes began his career with Newalta as the Sandwash Plant Operator in the Brooks facility. He was promoted to Operations Supervisor in 2012 and then in 2014 he was promoted again as the Branch Manager for Taber, Hays and Brooks facilities. After 9 years of dating Melissa, he finally tied the knot on July 3rd, 2010. Wes enjoyed spending time with his family, going on bike rides and quading in the mountains. He will always be remembered for his contagious laugh, his sense of humor, and his hard work ethic. Wes was predeceased by his mother; Florence Duckett in 2010. He is survived by his wife Melissa and his young son Kip of Taber; father, Harold “Butch” Duckett of Duchess; brother, Leigh and his wife Robin and their two children Shawn and Kayla all of Duchess; father-in-law, Peter Thompson and his wife Candice of Bassano; brother-in-law, Kevin Thompson and his wife Tennille and family of Maple Creek, SK. and nephew, Anthony Thompson of Bassano. Wes’ family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Taber Hospital for their great care and attention they gave to Wes in his last few weeks of life. The family would also like to thank Newalta for their continuous support to Wes and his family throughout this difficult journey. A Family Graveside was held on Thursday, June 7th at 2:00 PM from Brooks Cemetery. Rev. Don Philip officiated. A gathering of Wes’ family and friends was held at Wes and Melissa’s home in Taber on Saturday, June 9th. In memory of Wes, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Taber and District Health Foundation, for Palliative Care, 4326 – 50th Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9.
