    Draper – Mrs. Phyllis Shirley Draper of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Walter Albert Draper, passed away at the Brooks Health Centre on Friday, August 10th, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Shirley was born on September 29th, 1944 in Creston, British Columbia to Merton and Bertha McCulloch, the youngest of nine children. She spent most of her life in Creston, where she enjoyed working in forestry and agriculture and even owned her own strawberry farm, for a short time. Shirley’s loving and caring nature followed her to the Alfred Egan Home in Bow Island, Alberta, where she worked caring for individuals with developmental disabilities. In her spare time she loved cooking, baking, gardening and playing cards with friends and family. Shirley will be fondly remembered for her kind, caring nature and witty sense of humour. She is survived by 3 daughters, Crystal Halonen (Jim McGrath), Debbie Draper (Troy Canning) and Anette Sommerfeld (Trevor Sommerfeld); 8 grandchildren, Chantel (Carson), Andrew, Justin, Colin, Denika, Brittany (Tanner), Leona and Johanna; 3 great grandchildren, Annabella, Kingston and Auden; sister Helen Gregory and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 29th (Shirley’s Birthday) at 732 32nd Avenue South, Creston, British Columbia. In memory of Shirley, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta   T2E 9Z9. Words cannot express our gratitude to the nursing staff at the Brooks Health Centre for the kind and compassionate care of mom received.
