Cox – It is with great sadness that the family of Patricia Lynn Cox (nee Phillips) announces her sudden passing on Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at the age of 68 years. Pat was born in Drumheller, Alberta on August 2nd, 1952, part of a large family of eleven. The Badlands were their playground, from playing in the creek, hiking, collecting fossils, along with catching snakes and frogs, which was all just a part of growing up on Plug Street. After graduation Pat obtained a Secretarial Diploma in Calgary and while there met Sheldon Cox. They were married on September 5th, 1975. They resided in Strathmore, Fort Macleod, Rocky Mountain House and eventually settled in Scandia, where they raised their three children. Many would recognize Pat from her 33 years at Safeway, she was a dedicated employee who enjoyed her job as well as the many customers and coworkers, who became friends. She was loved by all because of her selfless, always patient and kind nature. Pat will be most remembered by her loved ones for always finding time for them, whether it be to play a game of checkers or scrabble with the grandkids, helping with projects, listening and for giving the best advice. Patsy was quick-witted and a bit of a prankster as well. She also had a great love for animals, especially her dog Frankie. Pat was always working on a project, whether it was in the yard, picking fruit and canning with her granddaughter Brooke, making handicrafts or refinishing furniture, each of our homes and the decor within are a testament to this. She was predeceased by her parents Beulah and Charlie Phillips, and sister Dawn Vereschagin. Pat is survived by her loving husband Sheldon; daughter, Kerri (Trent) Davidson of Duchess and their children Brooke, Kai and Jett; son, Clint (Angie) Cox of Strathmore and their children Brycen and Mason; daughter, Lindy (Cale) Poberznick of Medicine Hat and their children Remi and Bode; siblings, Daryl, Charlene, Wendy, Duane, Paula, Terry and Denise and many nieces and nephews. Patsy’s warm, genuine personality was felt by everyone who knew her. Although no longer with us, we take great comfort in the memories and life lessons she has blessed us with, not to mention the many jokes and laughs we have shared. Pat loved to laugh, even if it was at her own expense. A Private Celebration of Life for family will be held in Brooks. In memory of Pat, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Cleos Karma Canine Rescue, Box 852, Duchess, Alberta   T0J 0Z0.
