COCHRAN – Sheila Cochran Obituary – December 18,1932 – October 28,2020
It is with a sad heart that we write of our Mother, Sheila Cochran’s passing on October 28, 2020 at LT Care in Brooks. Sheila was highly regarded by all that knew her. She loved her family, friends and members of the Eastern Star in Brooks and Grand Forks BC. This was her second family. Sheila was born on December 18,1932. She was predeceased by her husband Andy Cochran in 2018, her brother Bob, sister in law Pat Adrain and parents, William & Helen, brother in laws Bob & Ron Cochran & sister-in-law Carleen Cochran, also Roland & Helene Cochran. She will be missed by sister-in-laws – Carol-anne McKay ( Don), Sue ( Dale) McIvor , Reta Cochran and their families. She was a loving mother to children – Mara Nesbitt (Jon), Maureen Fowler (Rob), Steve Cochran (Marla), Chris Cochran (Shawna) and James Cochran (Tina). She thought the world of her grandchildren – Mike (Leslie) Lyster, Matt (Ashley) Lyster, Jonathan (Gina ) Nesbitt, Arin Gerbrandt, Melissa Fowler (sadly predeceased recently), Jordan Fowler (Alana), Sheila Cochran, Lance Cochran (Jessyka), Ian & Rachel Cochran, Austin, Riley & Madison Cochran. Great Grandchildren were a wonder to her. She loved watching them grow. Jenna & Mya Lyster, Lukas & Zoe Lyster, Jackson & Connor Nesbitt, Nate, Rossie & Reece Gerbrandt, Michael Leinweber, Chase & Kyleen Cochran, Breanna, Alexis, & Lukas Cochran. Mom was a homemaker most of her life and our memories include coming home from school to enjoy the fresh bread and buns or cookies she baked. Mom loved to sew costumes for Maureen’s skating carnivals, she loved gardening, drawing, painting and singing. She decided she wanted her own business so in 1980, she partnered with Mara running the cafeteria at the Composite High School under Shemar Enterprises, which was a success. She made sure all the kids & teachers got hefty servings and this was her trait for every meal served at our home. She made the best apple pie and borsch. Her other great love, which she passed along to all of us, was Christina Lake, B.C. Many fond memories and lessons were passed along over the years at the cabin playing cards in the screened in porch with us and her grand kids….which we will continue to pass along to her great grandchildren.
Mother’s ashes will be carried back to Grand Forks, BC at a later date for a family service.
Thank you to the many caregivers, nurses and doctors that looked after Mom all of these years in Long Term Care, we always knew she was getting the best of the best…
