    BURROWS – Joanie Leigh Burrows passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2024 at the age of 74. Joanie was born in Bassano to Ralph Freemont Burrows and Elizabeth Ann Burrows of Countess Alberta on December 8,1950. Joanie was a sister to Hunter, Maxine and Bryce Burrows and was predeceased By her sister Patricia Burrows in 1984 and again by her brother Peter Burrows in 2023. Joanie was also survived and loved dearly by her niece Jessie Bronson and nephews Reed and Daina Burrows, Bradon and Rogan Burrows and predeceased by Walker Burrows in 2006. Joannie had many great nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention.
    Joanie graduated from Bassano High School in 1969. Following highschool she became a registered nurses aid. Looking for greener pastures she decided to hone her horsemanship skills and got employment with Art Danielson, an established quarter horse trainer near Kamloops BC exercising horses. This was a very wonderful time in her life.
    Again the yearning for adventure was strong leading Joanie to try long haul semi truck driving. She landed a job with Inland Cattle Haulers. She hauled cattle from coast to coast throughout Canada and into the United States. It was at this time that she won the prestigious truckers award for safe driving that came with a beautiful silver buckle few receive. Following her trucking career Joanie moved to Red Deer AB and became part owner of the Alberta Gold taxi company.
    From there Joanie moved Back to Bassano to be near family and deal with her health issues. She was a light in this community and a friend to many. Joanie was an incredible artist and craftsperson. Her horse skills reflect her lovely upbringing as a member of the Burrows family. She was a friend to all and her free spirit will live on in our memories
