Harold passed away in the wee hours of October 1, 2022. His legacy lives on with the many students he taught throughout his career. He cared about all of them and was so happy when one would phone him in the evening to ask for help with their math or physics. One of his biggest passions was flying. We saw so much of the landscape from a totally different perspective, from landing in our grandfather’s field or flying to air shows and visiting relatives. He took a leave from teaching and pursued becoming a flight service specialist (air traffic controller) which took him and his family to Hay River, NWT. As his family was not so happy about their new location, he came back and resumed his teaching career. He kept himself busy after retiring, including fending off a robber while he worked alone at the bus depot. His biggest accomplishment was his family. As soon as the school year was over, we were packed up and on the road with the camper to discover new things and creating special memories & did the same with his grandchildren. He was always there to listen, help and had no judgment. His mantra was “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” And he lived what he said. He was predeceased by his wife Mary and his son Marvin and sister Edith. He is survived by his children, Raymond, Gloria (Ken) & Arnold (Laurie) and his grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother Harvey (Darlene) and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to all at Masterpiece that became a part of his family and the hospital for their special care as well.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Duchess Mennonite Church in Duchess, Alberta.
