Berg – It is with broken hearts that we share the sad news that Barry Alynn Berg left us unexpectedly on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the age of 66 years. Born in Brooks on Oct. 10, 1954, Barry remained a “home town” boy for his entire life. He found the love of his life when he met Della Durand of Rimbey, AB. They married on May 30, 1987 and had two daughters, Stephanie and Rebecca with whom he shared an amazing relationship. Barry was an avid hockey fan and played in leagues from the Pee Wees to the Old Timers. When he could, he also worked Security at the Brooks Bandits Games. He was a Boston Bruins Fan, and Bobby Orr was his hero from the time he could stay up late enough to watch the games on T.V. His love of the road and adventure led him into the trucking industry, where he remained for most of his working life. He logged many miles behind the wheel, hauling anything from pipe in the patch, to cattle, to the water tower that he moved from the south side of town to the JoAnn Trucking yard. Eventually Barry and Della started BarDel Trucking. When he gave up trucking he worked as a Security Guard at the Brooks Hospital, something he enjoyed very much. Barry was predeceased by his parents, Henrik and Anna Berg, his mother-in-law, Helen Durand and brother-in-law, Ben Petersen. He is survived by his loving wife, Della; daughters, Stephanie Berg (BJ) and Rebecca (Billy) Johnston and the light of his life, his granddaughter Rori, all of Brooks; brother, Albert (Elsa) Berg of Vernon, B.C.; sisters Adelina Petersen of Nanton, AB. and Bernie (Kirk) Baynham of Brooks; father-in-law Ray Durand; brother-in-law Melvin (Valli) Durand, sisters-in-law, Grace Durand, Denise (Cory) Cote of Rimbey and Yvonne (Tom) Tuck of Calgary. Barry will also be missed by a huge circle of family and friends as he touched everyone he met with his generous nature and sense of humor. We will Celebrate his Life on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooks. Rev. John Theiss officiating. If friends desire, donations can be made directly to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Alberta, Suite 3100, 246 Stewart Green SW, Calgary, Alberta   T3H 3C8 or Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta, 10430 – 61 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta   T6H 2J3.
