    Beny – We regret to announce the passing of Jeanne Marie Beny of Brooks, beloved wife of the late William Beny, on February 18th, 2023, at the age of 83 years Jeanne was born in Bentley, Alberta on July 5th, 1939, to parents Clarence and Selma Vig. Jeanne grew up on her parents’ farm near Bentley. In her early years, Jeanne enjoyed skiing at the Bentley Ski Hill and playing baseball with friends. Jeanne married William Roy Beny on November 26th, 1959, in Red Deer, Alberta. During their 63-year marriage, they made a life together in Brooks. While Bill operated the family car dealership, Jeanne raised two children, Cynthia Lee (Cindy), born in 1963 and William Kenton (Kent), born in 1965. Jeanne was a devoted wife, a wonderful homemaker and dedicated mother, who taught her kids the value of work, but also to see the possibilities in life. Jeanne was a self-taught chef, who relished any opportunity to delight family and friends with her culinary creations in the family dining room. She was also a pilot, who enjoyed flying with her husband Bill, along with family and friends, to various locales throughout North America. During summers at the family cottage at Lake Newell, Jeanne taught many children and adults to water-ski and to fully appreciate lake life. Jeanne was an active member of Brooks and surrounding community, very involved in the Kettes, an integral part of the 1989 Brooks’ summer games organization effort and “Communities in Bloom” as well as the “Brooks History Book”. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Bill; her parents Clarence and Selma; siblings, Eileen and Keith; brothers-in-law Donald Freeman, Wilfred Wiese, Dick Jopling and Ted Valli as well as Bill’s sister, Carroll. Jeanne is survived by her children, Cindy and her husband Malcolm and Kent and his wife Irene; sister, Suzie; Cindy and Malcolm’s children: son Taylor (Sam), daughter Nicola (Corwin), son Todd (Shayla), Kent’s son Jonathan, as well as many special cousins, nieces and nephews. We would like to thank all friends and extended family for their words of love and support, also, the staff at the Brooks Health Centre, Brooks Home Care and also Sunrise gardens, who all gave her such good care in recent months. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the EID Legion in Brooks. Rev. John Theiss officiating. In memory of Jeanne, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a Charity of Choice.
