BELL – Alice Eunice Bell (Buteau) passed away on November 26, 2022 after a brave and lengthy battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side, just short of her 80th Birthday. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Alice was born in Saskatchewan on January 2, 1943, the 8th of 10 children. Her family moved to the Brooks area a few short years later in 1945. She attended both Cassils School and Rosemary School for a time. She married the love of her life, William Bell, on January 8, 1966 and they shared almost 57 years of marriage together.
Alice and Willie devoted their life to their family farm, where their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have all enjoyed spending their time creating a lifetime of memories. Alice enjoyed cheering on her favourite team ‘the Brooks Bandits’ and going to dances as often as possible. She looked forward to the yearly branding, where she got to host family and friends. She was always taking care of those around her and was known for her hospitable nature – there was always a plate of warm food ready at her table for everyone and she always had a Jumbo Raisin Cookie on hand. Alice was meticulous, whether it was her annual garden or her home, it always looked perfect. She was known for her spirited and spunky nature, always ready for a laugh and a little mischief. She loved supporting her community and any local events, especially the Farmer’s Market. Alice was a member of the Prairie Pioneers Club and the Legion. She was always there to offer a helping hand whenever needed. Alice and Willie took countless trips including Scotland, Alaska, and Cuba but one of her most memorable was taking all their Grandchildren to Disneyland. She looked forward to her annual camping trips with her family around the County of Newell.
Alice was survived by her Husband William Bell; her two Daughters Carolea Bell Renaud and Shawna (Martin) Wiebe; her five Grandchildren Jamie (Casey) Renaud, Jesse (Jordan) Renaud, Alaina (Denver) Stronks, Aaron (Megan) Wiebe, and Carrie Wiebe; her four Great-Grandchildren Jaylynn Renaud, Rowan Renaud, Korben Stronks, and Hadley Stronks; and her siblings George (Rita) Buteau, Edward (Val) Buteau, Margaret Parks, Yvonne (Gerry) Freundl, Cecille Duncan, and Bill (Anne) Buteau.
Alice was predeceased by her Father George Buteau; her Mother Mary (Marie/Maria) Deschamps; her Step-Father Jack Tranter; her brothers Oliver, Rene, and Victor Buteau; her brothers-in-law Jack Parks and Walter Duncan; and also “one of the family” Bradley McClurg.
A celebration of life will be held on December 17 at the Prairie Pioneers Club from 2:00-5:00. It will be an informal “come-and-go” style gathering with coffee and snacks provided. 49p
