Baine – It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Walter Baine on June 30, 2022 in Brooks, Alberta.  Rick was born in Banff, Alberta on March 26, 1953, the son of Barbara and Walter Baine who pre-deceased him.  Rick spent his early youth in Banff, until moving to Sherwood Park where he attended Salisbury Composite High School and eventually graduating from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.  After working his trade in Alberta and the Northwest Territories for several years, Rick travelled to Quito, Ecuador to start a new business.  It was there that he met his wife Jeannette, the love of his life.  Rick was blessed with the birth of his son Sebastian and daughter Nicole and was overjoyed when his first son Michael joined them in Ecuador for a couple of years.  Becoming fluent in Spanish, Rick found himself surrounded by the love and support of Jeannette’s family and friends and embraced all that the country could offer him.  Moving back to Canada, Rick spent his last 25 years in Brooks, where he worked for both the Town of Brooks and Brooks Asphalt & Aggregate.  Rick enjoyed the many birthday parties, Christmas gatherings, and social outings with his many friends, who, even nearing his end, continued to provide their support.  Rick’s life peacefully ended in Brooks, Alberta with his wife by his side.  The family appreciates the attentive care received through his family doctor, and the assistance of the nurses and doctors at the Brooks Health Centre.  Rick is lovingly remembered by his wife Jeannette; his children Michael (Claudine), Sebastian, Nicole (Michael) Phipps; grandchildren, Aisha, Kayla, Emma, and Emelia; father and mother-in-law Cesar and Mary Montesinos; his uncle Herb; brothers, Douglas (Nancy) and Jay; sister Andrea (Andy) Dingman; sisters-in-law Alexandra (Danilo) Pasternak and Maria Augusta (Juan Ignacio) Pareja; brothers-in-law Luis Fernando (Jessy) Maldonado and Cesar Montesinos; family friend Lorena Rodriguez and his nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Cesare), Martin, Ayelet, Juan Jose, Carla Maria, Maria Jose (Francisco), Juan Ignacio, Cesar Andres and Maria Lorena, Jennele (Sam), Jarryd (Erin), Lindsey (Chris), Jilleen (Chris), Iain, Niall, Adam (Briauna), Alex, and Andrew.  The family is planning a Celebration of Rick’s Life to be held in Brooks at a date to be advised.
