Andersen – Wayne Andrew Andersen of Brooks passed away at Brooks Health Centre on March 12th, 2016 at the age of 85. Wayne was born at Cereal, Alberta and raised on the family farm. He received his education in Calgary and spent many years as a surveyor. Later in life Wayne worked in the financial services industry selling life insurance and even spent a year as road manager for Raveen the Hypnotist. Wayne was a self-taught pianist who beautifully played music by ear. He was also an accomplished organist and was known as “the Piano Man” at Newbrook Lodge. When Wayne retired to Brooks from Calgary he and his wife Lillian were welcomed into Brooks Evangelical Free Church. He appreciated the love they were shown and the friendships they made while there and he continued to attend after his wife Lillian passed away in 2012. Wayne is survived by 3 step daughters; Cindy Simpson (Gord) of Tilley, Donna Tyler (Ross) of Victoria and Debra Matcheski (Allan) of Didsbury and 4 grandchildren; Jennifer Simpson, Janay Swailes, Neil Swailes and Andrew Swailes all of Calgary. In memory of Wayne, if family or friend’s desire, memorial tributes may be made to Brooks and District Health Foundation towards the purchase of a kidney dialysis machine.
