Adolf Erhardt (Archie) Adams passed away in Brooks Alberta on January 9th, 2021 at the age of 89. He was born to Stefan and Marthe Adams on October 30, 1931 in West Prussia, Poland. In January 1945, the family fled in advance of invading troops to Hollenstedt, Germany. He became a licensed large engine mechanic and emigrated to Canada, joining his elder sister Margaret Heringer in Medicine Hat.  Working at the Brooks Ford dealership, he delivered a new vehicle to a farm in Tilley and thereby met Margot Csoszor. They were wed in 1957, by which time Archie had established his own construction company, A.E. Adams Construction Co. Ltd. Archie and Margot lived in Brooks, moving as one house was sold and another built. They had three daughters Debbie, Edie, and Susie. He was active and respected in the business and social life of the community, serving on Brooks Town Council. In the 1980’s Archie embarked on a new phase, building a great home in Courtenay, Vancouver Island, B.C., clearing trees and fishing for salmon. He married Ann Troidl and moved from the Island to Kelowna before returning to Brooks. Archie was preceded by his daughter Susie (Charles Foy) his siblings Emil, Erich, Stefan and Ingrid, and his second wife Ann Troidl. Left to mourn his loss are his daughters Debbie Niffin (Larry) of Atlanta, Georgia,  Edie Adams (Michael Simons) of Seattle, Washington,  his sisters Margaret Heringer of  Medicine Hat and Lydia in Germany, Margot Adams Wood, and his stalwart friends John Schmal, Dr. Ramesh Patel, Henry Weiss, Burton and Wanda Johnson and Billy Wells. Dad’s job here on Earth is done. He taught us to believe in our own strength, and we saw that in his last few weeks. In memory of Archie, a memorial tribute may be made to the Commemorative Forest of Brooks. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Thom’s Funeral Home and Reception Centre in Duchess. Graveside Services to follow at Brooks Cemetery. Pastor John Theiss Officiating. The funeral Service recording will be made available online following the service.
