Peters – Elsa Peters (nee Koslowsky) passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the age of 101, in Brooks, Alberta. She was born August 11, 1923, to loving parents in the Village of Pretoria, in the Orenburg region of Russia. She had a happy childhood, until Stalin’s regime began to make it’s mark on many families. Her father was taken from them in the middle of the night, never to be heard from again when she was 14 years old. That changed many things for her and her family and life became difficult for them. The war came a few years later and she was separated from her family and ended up in Germany in the fall of 1943. In August 1948, she immigrated to Canada, where she went to night school to learn English and worked at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary. Soon she moved to Rosemary, where she met Pete Peters. They were married in 1950 and started life together on a small farm near Rosemary, where they raised their two daughters, Hildy and Esther. They retired to a home in Rosemary in the fall of 1997. Elsa was a dedicated homemaker, enjoying cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. She was also active with the “Willing Helpers” in her local church group. She was predeceased by her husband, Pete Peters, her parents and four siblings. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Hildy (Ernest) Penner and Esther (Richard) Wiens, along with 4 grandchildren (Marcia, Julia, Roxanne and Dustin) and their respective families. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 PM from the Rosemary Mennonite Church. Pastor Josh Mueller officiating. Interment at Rosemary Cemetery.
