West Kelowna Warriors came out strong in game one of the Interior Conference playoffs in the quest towards the Fred Page Cup on Friday in Brooks against the Brooks Bandits and never let up taking down the second place team 4-2.
The Warriors grabbed the lead late in the first period with a goal from Tyle Grahme, then early in the second period Elias Callgren got the point and four minutes later Callgren got his second goal of the night and then added an assist to Joey Macrina’s goal as the Warriors held a 4-0 lead.
Although the Bandits came out strong in the third period with goals from Cooper Pierson and Dante Siciliano, three minutes later, it was not enough as the Warriors took the first game in the best-of-seven series, 4-2.
Following an embarrassing loss, the Bandits returned to the ice for game two on Saturday to defeat the Warriors 8-2. Caden Drury opened the scoring for the Bandits 26 seconds into the game. The first period also saw goals from Cooper Pierson, Mathis Dufour and Luke Bibby as well as Logan Flint of the Warriors.
In the second period Jackson Kyrkostas got the final Warriors goal which was followed by three Bandits goals from Jack Rosensteel, Jack Good and Bibby. Michal Liscinsky had the Bandits final goal of the game in period three.
The Warriors and Bandits were back on the ice for game three last night and game four will be held tonight in West Kelowna.
Game five will be played in Brooks on Friday and game six will be in West Kelowna on Sunday. If necessary, game seven will return to Brooks on Tuesday.
