Simpson – Donald Herbert Simpson of Brooks, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Sunday October 26th, 2014 at the Brooks Health Center – Long Term Care Facility from complications caused by diabetes. He was 74 years old. Donald, the eldest of two children born to Herbert and Ruby (Boals) Simpson, was born in Cornwall Ontario, on March 31st, 1940. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people and sharing his advice. Don was fond of getting outdoors and cruising wherever he could. He will be remembered for his sense of humour and kindness towards others. We will miss you Dad and G’pa. Don was predeceased by his parents as well as his stepmother, Mabel (MacCrimmon) Simpson. Don is survived by his sister, Charlene (Tony) Simpson-Russell of Largo, Florida and his seven children; Chris (Jody) of Sundre, AB, Scott (Maureen) of Fort McMurray, AB, Andy of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; Nathan (Shannon) of Lac la Biche, AB, Samantha (Darwin) of Cochrane, AB, Tiffany of Edmonton and Michael (Amanda) of Vegreville, AB. Don is also survived by his ten grandchildren, who he loved dearly; Melissa, Savannah, Dallin, Bryce, Trevor, Sarah, Ethan, Dominic, Hannah and Eve, as well as numerous relatives and friends. Don’s family would like to thank the staff of the Brooks Long Term Care Facility for their kindness and caring for Don during his residency. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 30th at 11:00 AM from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brooks. Bishop Russel Tanner officiated. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.
