Skuban – John Pete Skuban of Brooks, passed away peacefully in Brooks on October 25th, 2005 at the age of 87 years. Born in Arena, Saskatchewan on September 11th, 1918 John received his education in the area. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces in Canada from 1941 to 1946. John farmed and ranched in the Rolling Hills area from 1946 until retiring to Brooks in 1999. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion EID Branch #63. John loved his family, hunting and trapping. He will be remembered for being “Uncle John”. John was predeceased by his parents Anna and Paul Skuban; 3 sisters Mary Kipta, Helen Garrett and Sophie Skuban; 3 brothers Mike, Joe and Paul; nephew Marvin Bolokoski; 2 brothers-in-law John Bolokoski and Alf Nygaard. He is survived by his loving family, 3 sisters Annie Bolokoski of Lethbridge, Mabel (Melfort) Korsberg of Lethbridge and Elsie Nygaard of Brooks; 2 sisters-in-law Margaret Skuban of Medicine Hat and Mary Skuban of Brooks and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 29th from the Rolling Hills Community Centre. Rev. Walter Willford officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were all of John’s nieces and nephews. In memory of John, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Brooks and District Health Foundation for the Nursing Home, Bag 300, Brooks T1R 1B3.
