Smith – David Laurie Smith of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on Friday, October 30th, 2020 at the age of 65 years. David was born in Calgary, Alberta on March 29th, 1955 to Elmer and Lily Smith. He attended school in Brooks and graduated from the Brooks Composite High School in 1973. David worked for Tomboy for a number of years before moving to Samsco, where he worked for 10 years, before taking over ownership of the company. He continued to work and manage Samsco until his retirement, in 2011. David loved golfing, skiing, fishing, sailing on the sailboat he built by hand and spending time with his family and friends. He was a Stampeders’ fan and loved attending the games with Pat and Barry Renn. David was a member of the Brooks Elks Club for many years. He will be fondly remembered by both his friends and family for his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. David was predeceased by his grandparents and brother-in-law Penny Toderian. He is survived by his parents Elmer and Lily Smith; sister Sheila Toderian; nephews Blaine (Kim) Toderian and Brendon (Kristine) Toderian and great niece Kinnley Rae. A Private Family Service will be held. Interment in Brooks Cemetery.
