Calvert – It is with immense sadness that we announce that in the early hours of Tuesday, October 27th, 2020, Ken passed away at the Brooks Health Centre at the age of 80 years.  Ken was born on August 30th, 1940, in Bassano, AB., the eldest of seven children born to Cecil and May.  He attended the one-room school in Bow City, AB. and then roomed in Red Deer for his 12th year.  Ken was with his buddy, Chuck Andrus one night when he picked up his sister, Fay Andrus.  She caught his eye immediately and they married on November 30th, 1963 and enjoyed wedded bliss till the end.  Ken was ambitious and bought a gravel truck right out of high school and started hauling gravel in different locations ending in Tugaske, SK., before returning to Brooks in 1967.  In 1968, Bow City became home again with the purchase of the farm.  Farming wasn’t just a business for Ken, it was his life.  He lead by example and never shied away from hard work, long hours and a little dirt.  Later in years, Arizona became the winter escape.  Many days of golfing and afternoons socializing in the company of good friends was time well spent.  Ken’s sense of humour as he teased with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face will not be forgotten.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Fay; his daughter Glenda (Bert) Peeters; his son Bradley (Vickie) Calvert; his grandchildren Derek (Ricki), Jessica (Chaz), James (Haley), Curtis (Renee), Marc (Myla), Tiffiny (Aaron) as well as great grandchildren; Stratton, Navy and Oaks.  Ken is also survived by his siblings; Gerald (Joyce) Calvert, Rita Wilkerson, Dennis (Joanne) Calvert, Dianne (Eric) Pedersen, Dorothy (Terry) Hughes, Wayne (Norma) Calvert.  He was pre-deceased by his infant daughter, Karen Phyllis.  A Private Funeral Mass was Celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brooks.  Rev. Marino Infante Celebrant.  Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.  In memory of Ken, If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Alzheimer Society of Alberta, 10430 – 61 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta   T6H 2J3.
