It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peggy Grace Sparry of Brooks, beloved wife of John Sparry, on Sunday, November 8th, 2015 in Medicine Hat, at the age of 91 years. Peggy was born in Shelton, Norfolk, England on March 12th, 1924 to Winifred and Geoffrey Corbyn. She received her education in various parts of England and completed her high school at The Blyth High School for Girls in Norwich, Norfolk. Upon completion of Secretarial School, Peggy was employed in a lawyer’s office in Norwich. As World War Two had already started, she then volunteered, being placed in the British Transport Service, where she drove heavy equipment army trucks and eventually became her Commanding Officer’s private driver. While stationed at Castle Ashby in North Hamptonshire, Peggy met her husband to be, John Sparry and they were married on March 10th, 1945 at Wymondham Abbey in Norfolk. They had two children, Andrew and Dawn. In 1957, Peggy and John decided to immigrate to Canada. Peggy continued her secretarial work, and in 1958, she became the secretary at the Brooks High School, where she remained for 18 years. After retiring from the High School, Peggy joined John in operating East Anglia Breeding Centre. She was a long time member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church and active in ACW, as well as the choir. Peggy had many hobbies, she loved growing flowers, sewing, knitting, jigsaw puzzles and reading. She will be remembered for her ready smile, warm personality and her contentment for life. Her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, John Sparry; children Andrew Sparry and his wife Lori of Brooks and Dawn Ball and her husband Regi of Brooks; grandchildren Cory Sparry and his wife Jori of Metamora, Illinois, Amberley Stanford and her husband Sean of Magrath, Alberta, Cayley Sparry of Cochrane, Alberta, Christopher Ball and his wife Stephanie of Vegreville, Alberta, David Ball of Brooks, Duncan Ball and his wife Gemma of Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island and Suzy Chambers and her husband Darwin of Red Deer; great grandchildren Adisen, Aubree and Ashby Sparry, Huxley Stanford, Dexter, Sasha and Reuben Ball and Halle and Beckett Chambers; sisters Heather Daniels and her husband Rick of Aldeby, Norfolk, Hazel King and her husband John of Dereham, Norfolk and Jessica Corbyn of London and numerous nieces and nephews in England. Pet, Love, Mum, Nanny, Nanners, Aunty Pegilee, we will miss you. Rest in peace in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 2:00 PM from St. Alban’s Anglican Church. Rev. Ken Wells officiating.
