Lindsay – Diedre Dawna Ellen Lindsay of Scandia, beloved wife of Duane Lindsay, passed away peacefully in Brooks, Alberta on Wednesday July 15th, 2020 due to Esophagus cancer at the age of 63 years.  She was born October 25th, 1956 in Brooks to Bill and Mima Kirby.  Diedre met Duane in 1975 and within 6 months they married on January 24, 1976.  Diedre loved her grandkids and family.  She enjoyed crocheting gifts for everyone and tried not to miss a week of BINGO.   Camping at the lake was one of her favorite places to be.  Diedre liked to fish from the boat and watch the grandkids try water sports.  She liked to go to the Mountains at least once a year camping to fish and bike. Travel was also a big part of her life.  Even though she had to make Duane go, they did multiple trips to Mexico, did a road trip down East, toured Alaska, did a boat trip through Europe and saw the Dominican Republic and Panama.  Diedre was best known for her laugh, sense of humor, being stubborn and her competitive streak.  She loved to cook and usually took over if anyone tried to help.  Diedre also never said no to an invite.  She worked for years at the IGA, then moved to Medi-plus.  Diedre finished her career at the Bank of Montreal as a commercial lender before retiring.  After retirement, she volunteered at the Scandia Museum and was a part of the Scandia Community Centre.  Diedre is survived by her husband Duane; daughters, Shannon (Brad) Biette and Megan (Duce) Currie, and her favorite people Casey, Sadie, Blair and Brynn.  Siblings Andy (Jackie) Kirby, Doug Kirby, Jean (John) Kazimir and Jem Kirby (Lyle Moore).  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  The services are being privately held at Smith Memorial Chapel.  Rev. John Theiss officiating.  In memory of Diedre, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta   T2E 2P5.
