Mr. Steve Stillinger, loving partner of Mrs. Esther Stone of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, December 3rd, 2007 at the age of 68 years. Steve also leaves to cherish his memory two daughters: Linda Stillinger of Big Valley, Alberta and her daughter, Katherine Stillinger-Winegarden; and Heidi Stillinger of Brooks and her son, Jesse Stillinger-Dyck; and their mother, Mary Stillinger of Nanaimo, British Columbia; his father, Anton Stillinger of Medicine Hat; two brothers, Tony Stillinger and John Stillinger, both of Medicine Hat; two sisters, Katie Chistie of Creston, British Columbia and Teresa Stillinger of Port Alberni, British Columbia; two step-sons, Garland Barnes and Frank Stone; five step-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his mother, Helen; one brother, Peter; and three nephews. Born on March 23rd, 1939 in Yugoslavia, Steve came to Canada as a young man. He met Mary Hlinka in Taber where they were married. Steve and Mary were married for 17 years and farmed in the Tilley area for many years. In 2000, Steve met Esther and continued to farm until retiring to Medicine Hat in 2003 due to his ill health. Besides taking great pride in his farm and cattle, Steve enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his strong opinions and his devotion to his ‘girls’. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, Medicine Hat, on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:55 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be held in ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH on Wednesday, December 5th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Tomy Manjaly officiating. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery.
