    THOM – Gordon Alexander Thom. Gord passed away peacefully with his family by his side, in Brooks, on Thursday, August 8th, 2013 at the age of 56 years. Gord was born in New Westminster, B.C. on November 22nd, 1956 to Walter and Kathleen Thom. He and his family lived in Coquitlam, until moving to Salmon Arm with his parents in 1970. Gord then made his way to Brooks in 1977 and starting work at Franklin’s Tires. He attended SAIT and LCC in order to obtain his mechanics license in 1983. Gord worked in local garages until starting his own business, M&G Auto, with his partner Merlin Skanderup. After the sale of his garage he worked for Big Foot Metal Systems, Brooks Carpentry, Universal Hot Shot and most recently he worked as a mechanic at Grasslands Public Schools bus shop. Gord was always busy. He kept active with hunting, fishing, golfing, camping at his acreage near Caroline, AB. restoring older vehicles, shopping for antiques, and working on his many building projects. Gord also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Kathleen and sister-in-law Barb and brother-in-law Gene. Gord is survived by his loving wife Donna; twin daughters Stacey and Deana; sisters Ruth (Michael) and Janis (Graham), and twin brother Garry; brother-in-law Michael; sister-in-law Sandra (Gerald); parents-in-law Fred and Gerri and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 15th at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks. Rev. John Theiss officiating.
