Thompson – Arline May Thompson of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Henry Thompson, passed away in Brooks on Monday, March 21st, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Arline was born in Claresholm, Alberta on October 27th, 1924. She received her schooling in Claresholm and her post-secondary schooling at Calgary Normal School. Arline was married to Henry on July 15th, 1944 in Calgary. They farmed in Lomond until 1970, when they moved Brooks. Arline taught in Bow City as a school teacher, until she was married and became a devoted farm wife and mother to her two children Bill and Susan. Arline was an avid sports fan of her children, grandchildren and the Blue Jays. She will be lovingly remembered for her love of her family and her kind heart. Arline absolutely loved playing cards and cooking amazing meals for all her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents George and Cora Gipson, her husband Henry, her son Bill and all her siblings. Arline is survived by her loving family, daughter Susan Hodgson and her husband Bob of Duchess and their daughters, Shelley (Darren) Vikedal and children Zak and Quinn of Duchess, Lindsay (Morgan) Crossland and daughter Kallie of Duchess and Robbie Hodgson of Medicine Hat; daughter-in-law Linda Thompson of Brooks and sons Jason (Jacquie) Thompson and children Addisyn and Rory of Duchess and Ryan (Gwen) Thompson and children Drew, Hailey and Sydney of Duchess; grandson Robert Thompson and children Charlie and Jaxon and their mother Mary Bernier. A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, March 26th at 2:00 PM from the Brooks United Church. Pastor David Sarsons officiated. Interment at Brooks Cemetery. In memory of Arline, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Duchess Golf Course, Box 385, Duchess, Alberta T0J 0Z0.
